September 2009 Shipment from Cote d'Ivorie

The container was loaded with close to 500 African drums, 1800 goatskins. Cowhides,  drum cases, and special orders.  Our task was to get the box unloaded in 2 hours. The challenge was our very steep driveway. The truck cannot climb it so it must be unloaded on the road and then the goods trucked up to the house.

Unlocking  and opening the box is always exciting. We finally get to see what we have been anticipating for months. Everyone watches with bated breath! Oops, Shorty catches a small drum. The the race begins.

The Helpers (Drumaholics)

It takes a village to unload a shipment. Twelve wonderful friends showed up to help unpack the beast. Their work helps keep the cost of good down, and we have a good time. We so appreciate them. Thank-you: Bob, Kevin, Brigid, Mead, Tamy, José, Dave, Rory, Phoenix, Steve, Chris, and Damascas. Sorry, I was not able to get everyone's picture, but here are some photos that show the work you did. Many others wanted to help but the timing was not right. We'll see you all next time!
