Container News as of June 14

It has been a wild and busy week. We went to the barkbash last weekend and when we got home all we could do was work at getting orders out. With this container the prices that we pay have gone up so that will be reflected in what you have to pay. The good news it is not much. We also received some new sizes of Ivory Coast Djembes. There are 11.5 X 21 inch and small 9 X 17 inch Djembes. Both sized drums look and sound great. The new prices and pictures are now posted on the website. If you want more info please give Sandy or me a call.

Just in as of May 8, 2008
I have new shipment of great sounding small Ghana drums along with non tourist full djembes from Ghana and some talking drums. These drum sell for a lower price then the Ivory Coast Drums. They are listed on my shopping cart, for any further details feel free to call 800-549-3966. The large Ghana drums are amost gone as of Sat May 17th, there are two left, lots of small Ghana Drums still in and they sound good.

Life has taken me up and down some interesting paths lately. I am settling into my new home and routine in the Smokey Moutnains and loving it. If you are in the neighborhood feel free to stop by. My wife, Sandy, and I attended the Drum Circle Facilitators Guild's annual meeting in Myrtle Beach, S.C. What a great bunch of people doing great things. I was thrilled to meet many of my customers for the first time and to drum with so many new and old friends!
The next container from the Ivory Coast is on its way to the U.S.A. I've had my drum rope reformualted. The weave has been tightened up to make the rope a little stronger. The drum straps are now constructed of 2" wide cotton webbing. Check out some of the new merchanise DD&S is offering for sale. Sandy answers the phone. If I am not available please talk to her about your drumming needs. If there is a question that she cannot answer she will get the informtion from me.
As always I thank you for visting my page and being loyal customers, Shorty

My mission. I have a source of hand carved Djembe drums and African goatskins from the Ivory Coast of Africa for sale. I have been into making drums as a hobby for over 20 years. I have had several drum projects that were fun to build, but I was never able to produce the sound that these drums have. If there is anybody interested in owning one of these quality drums let us know and we will give you further details. The heart and soul of drumming is in me and I want other people to have these drums at a reasonable price. All drums and skins are fully guaranteed and backed by my word.

Thanks
Shorty

How to head a drum

By clicking on the link below you will be taken to my "How to head a djembe letter" done in pictures. I have had the help of a wonderful person, Susan, who took the time to take the picturesand using my own letter on "how to letter", she has produced this extremely helpful guide to heading a djembe. There will be some changes in the near future, but for now, go have a peek. She is using her drum, though it is not african all the techniques are the same. Rehead

I have sold over 500 drums since I started rebuilding drums and selling new drums. I have also gifted 8 drums to some special people and as donations

UPDATE

This "Hobby" is now a business. I still have low overhead and I will continue with the best quality and price for a Djembe drum you can find. I appreciate all the letters and replies I have gotten and feel like I have made a lot of friends from this page even though I have never met anybody face to face.
I wrote the above paragraph some time ago so it is not quite accurate. I have since met a lot of you kind folks and hope to meet more. Thanks for visiting.
